Hotel Villa Santo Domingo
The picturesque Villa Santo Domingo, administered by Cuban chain Islazul and classified as 2 stars, is located next to the Yara River, in the Sierra Maestra, and, given its proximity, is the ideal hotel for those who wish to climb the Turquino Peak, highest point of Cuban geography.
In the villa, guests can enjoy walks on mules and horses, walk paths of natural and historical values, visit coffee plantations, participate in guateques, the typical celebrations of Cuban peasants, and appreciate first hand the life in these places.
In addition to the Turquino Peak, hikers’ excursions include the Pozo de Lola, the Loma del Espejo, the Stone House, the Lucas Castillo Museum or the General Commandery of La Plata.
The hotel has a bar and restaurant serving traditional Cuban food. However, the paladar (private restaurant) La Orquídea, located very close, seems the best option in the area.
The 20 wooden bungalows are located in two-story blocks, all with stunning views. They have hot and cold water, air conditioning, bathroom, minibar and cable TV.
A simple, practical option, but the best for those interested in entering the Sierra Maestra.
